Being the Foodie that I am, I love cupcakes and cakes (who doesn’t?). I used to search for the best cupcakes in and around the city to taste them. I was pretty surprised by how they were expensive than the normal cream cakes, but when it comes to food one shouldn’t ask too many questions. This continued for a while and I found out that these treats weren’t easy on my wallet. That was then I took a decision, that was to change my life!
Yes, I decided to give it up.
Wait, wait. I’ll make it clear. I decided to give up on the habit of buying cupcakes and decided to bake them on my own π So I got an OTG and started experimenting with cupcakes and cakes, and boy I was surprised (shocked) at how well they turned out.
Since a lot of recipes online kept confusing me, I stuck to the one that my friend had shared long back, and which had come well in the microwave oven when I tried baking.
So here you go π
I always prefer writing down recipes in a language that I understand better, and with measurements I’m capable of understanding. (And when there is a nice colour pen around, why not write every little detail!)
So this was chocolate cupcake on Day 1, the vanilla cupcakes were pretty decent too.
And the week after, I tried the Vanilla Sponge cake. My mom loved it so you know how it must have been π
This is the first batch of the cupcakes, from the back to back baking that I did on Sunday! Phew!
(Not seen in picture, my folded hands, praying that the cupcakes would rise. God is great! )
Voila, here they are! Vanilla cupcakes :-), Want to taste? π
So, I read about pioneer woman’s frosting (Google Best Frosting ever Pioneer Woman) and decided to try.
Should’ve been thicker, still working on that.
Β And a small portion of my Experiments with Cakes on what was a truly wonderful Sunday! π
So, I’m going to be baking for a few friends and family, since they think this is awesome. And will slowly graduate to more varieties. I’m so excited already π
P.S. If you’ve come across any website that has amazing recipes (which you’ve tried), please do share it. Thanks π
P.P.S : Another item checked on my wishlist. It’s about a new skill and I say Baking!
Cheers!

Two observations Ashwini – 1) The cakes look awesome. 2) For someone in the IT industry, your handwriting is really good! After more than 7 yrs in this industry, my handwriting resembles that of a doctor (only I understand what I write) π

I prefer cream cakes over cupcakes, that too without much sugar. The cupcakes sold in shop are too sugary, especially the chocolate cupcake. Recently, I tasted one of the best cakes from cakemall.in – try it.

Awesome!!
Love of food is always the first step in experiments, and then there is no stopping.
I have made some lovely cakes without using eggs, and also without using any dairy products.
You have hundreds of recipes in the net, and it is fun to try them out.

Hey, there are a few recipes for Microwave cakes too. You wont get the brown top, thats the only difference and they're pretty decent too. I recently got an OTG. Before that it was always with the microwave.
Thank you :-), Will definitely try them π
